Sound CARE (Conservation of Agriculture, Resources, and the Environment) is North Carolina Ducks Unlimited's premier conservation initiative, dedicated to the conservation and restoration of North Carolina wetlands and North American breeding grounds. Launched in 2004, Sound CARE has already conserved almost 13,000 acres of public and private wetlands throughout North Carolina. Additionally, nearly 25,000 acres of breeding grounds have been conserved in the Prairie Pothole and Eastern Canada regions, areas responsible for 75% of our state's migratory waterfowl. Due to the success of the initiative, Sound CARE's goals have been increased to $27 million and 70,000 acres by December 2010. Through summer 2007, Ducks Unlimited has raised over $37 million, 54% of the required $27 million neccessary to complete this conservation effort.
