Sound CARE (Conservation of Agriculture, Resources, and the Environment) is North Carolina Ducks Unlimited's premier conservation initiative, dedicated to the conservation and restoration of North Carolina wetlands and North American breeding grounds. Launched in 2004, Sound CARE has already conserved more than 13,000 acres of public and private wetlands throughout North Carolina. Additionally, approximately 31,000 acres of breeding grounds have been conserved in the Prairie Pothole and Eastern Canada regions, areas responsible for 75% of our state's migratory waterfowl. Last year, Sound CARE's goals were increased to $27 million and 70,000 acres by December 2010. Through the 2008 reporting period, Ducks Unlimited has raised approximately $17 million, 63% of the required $27 million neccessary to complete this conservation effort.
